When it comes to writing you have lots of choices when it comes to the actual type of content you want to create. Let's take a look at some of the most common choices.
Blog Posts and Articles
Blog posts tend to be shorter than articles but I have also seen posts that spill over into a 1,000 words or more. A blog post is often written in a more friendly and conversational manner as well. This is the type of post you would write that allows people to get to know who you are. An article, on the other hand, tends to be more informative or educational. This content could be published on your website but it can also be published via article directories. Articles tend to be longer and can be split into two or more parts, to create a series.
Product Reviews
As the name suggests this is a piece of content that is reviewing a particular product. Many affiliate marketers use this type of content to promote a product on their website. A good review is normally around 700 words in length and provides the reader with the good and the bad on a product. If you are planning on writing lots of reviews it often helps to actually own the product as well. This way you can give your unbiased opinion on it, and you can offer suggestion on how to use it, any issues that someone might incur and more.
Reports
Reports can vary in length and I have seen reports that are 2,500 words in length to those that run over 10,000 words. A report should have a contents page or be divided into sections. When writing the report make sure that the content follows an easy to understand sequence. This way the reader can follow logical steps to a conclusion. It often helps to include images, diagrams and photographs in a report. This makes the report appear visually pleasing to the eye and easier to read. Remember that not everyone will automatically print out a report. So ensure the layout looks good on your computer monitor.
Email Content
This type of content is used by anyone who is running a business today. Huge corporations use email marketing as do small, one person run businesses. When writing emails keep them conversational in tone. Write as though you are writing to a good friend. These are the most common types of content that you will encounter. They are all very similar and it is usually the length that varies.
